Day 1-4 Walcheren.
In about one and a half to two hours, you'll reach Walcheren. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the day and enjoy a peaceful environment, then this is an attractive destination. Walcheren is known for its beautiful beaches, with popular destinations such as Domburg, Zoutelande, or Westkapelle. Besides the beaches, there are also beautiful nature reserves, such as the dunes or the Manteling van Walcheren. Walking or cycling are good activities to explore this natural area. With the sea so close, there are also plenty of opportunities for sailing, surfing or kite surfing. Walcheren not only offers beaches and nature but also charming villages and cities with a rich history and atmospheric streets with historic buildings to admire. Visit Middelburg or Veere. Vlissingen is also worth a visit, stroll along the boulevard and enjoy the sea view. You can enjoy delicious food in Walcheren with local Zeeland specialties such as mussels, oysters and other fresh seafood.
Day 4-6 Schouwen-Duiveland.
After a few days of enjoyment in Walcheren, drive to Schouwen-Duiveland. You'll pass the Oosterschelde barrier and you can make a stop to take a closer look at it from the viewpoint. Soon you'll arrive at the two most famous seaside resorts Burgh-Haamstede and Renesse. Great for another day at the beach. Spend another day exploring culture in the charming town of Zierikzee. The city center is scattered with beautiful old buildings, churches and city gates.
Day 6-7 South Holland - Scheveningen
We drive to the next province. We drive along the Brouwersdam, where we can park on the beach with the camper and enjoy a lunch we brought ourselves. With your chair in front of your camper, you can enjoy the splashing waves of the sea. Then we drive a bit further and our journey takes us to Scheveningen. Visit the Pier, where you have a panoramic view of the sea! Here you can even zip-line down or bungee jump. There are plenty of restaurants and bars on the lively boulevard where you can enjoy a snack or a drink. You can also visit Sealife, where you can admire a variety of sea animals.
Day 7-8 Katwijk aan Zee
A day at the beach in Katwijk aan Zee. Visit the lighthouse of Katwijk, also known as "Vuurbaak". This is the second oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands. When the tower is open, you can look out over the sea from about 30 meters above sea level. Katwijk aan Zee is also the perfect seaside resort for a relaxing day at the beach. In spring, visit Lisse, where you can enjoy the most colorful bulb fields, where you can discover the most beautiful flowers. Make it a day out or do this while you're on your way to Zandvoort.
Day 8-9-10 Zandvoort - Haarlem
Here you can also enjoy the sea, take a dip in the North Sea or just relax on the beach. Enjoy a relaxing day by the sea. If lounging on the beach isn't your thing, there's plenty to do on the water! You can choose to paddleboard, surf, kayak, or raft in the waves. There's plenty to do. Don't miss a visit to the beautiful historic city of Haarlem. In the center, you'll walk through ancient streets and past numerous national monuments. You'll find cozy cafes, boutique shops, and interesting museums in Haarlem, such as the Frans Hals Museum.
Day 10-11-12 Egmond aan Zee - Alkmaar
We travel to our "last" destination on the coast, but the journey isn't over yet! There are some high dunes, but otherwise, the surroundings of Egmond are almost flat. Therefore, find one of the viewpoints and enjoy the view, look for Torensduin, Uitkijktoren Egmond aan Zee, or the Bleek. Visit the abbey, the brewery or even the Alpaca farm. If you can't get enough, relax another day at the beach. Alkmaar is known for its traditional cheese market, which can be visited from April to September at the historic Waagplein. Enjoy the spectacle of cheese porters weighing and trading large cheeses in the traditional way. In addition, you can enjoy numerous monuments, canals, shops, museums and terraces in the beautiful historic center of Alkmaar.;
Day 13 Castle de Haar
Today the return journey begins, unfortunately, everything comes to an end. You don't have to drive back all at once, but you can still visit some beautiful places before you arrive back in Rijen. For example, visit the largest castle in the Netherlands on the route south; Castle de Haar. You can take a tour of the castle, but you can also visit the beautiful gardens or the park. Maybe you can plan it in such a way that you can have lunch on the picnic meadow by the pond. At the end of the afternoon, drive towards Rijen, where you'll find a camping or camper site nearby for the last night.
